No snark here. Let me be very earnest when I say that this Kickstarter project looks awesome. Behold, Moby Dick, or, The Card Game, a strategic tabletop card game by New York-based King Post. I’m not the only one who thinks so either. The project has exceeded it’s $25,000 funding goal by more than 100 percent. Nice to see that there are plenty of literature / tabletop gaming nerds out there.
Full disclosure: I have never actually read Moby Dick cover-to-cover, but I would totally play a card game based on it. My roommate / editor / girlfriend has, however.
I guess that since they are raising tons of money for this product launch, the card game should be out around September. I have to admit that I skipped over many of the technical chapters on whaling when I read Moby Dick (unlike Alex, I did finish the novel, at least the parts with a plot as opposed to the whaling textbook parts). I’m actually intrigued to buy this card game for the Dalenberg Library. Thanks to the indefatiguable freelance reporter Alex for scoping out this literary tidbit. –Dale D. Dalenberg MD
